Carol Ann Zamarra, ND, LMT
Naturopathic Physician
Licensed Massage Therapist

Healing is an individual's movement towards ease and comfort, an adventurous journey towards self-knowledge. Dr. Carol Zamarra supports that journey with a balanced and grounded approach to practicing the art of healing. Coming from a family of artists, she thinks of the human body as her artistic medium and enjoys being part of the sculpture and dance of the healing process, the outcome evolving from a palette of infinite possibility.

Integrating the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels of the patient in the healing process; Dr. Carol uses an eclectic array of modalities in developing a treatment plan. These include: physical medicine, nutrition, natural supplements, homeopathic tinctures, botanicals, essential oils and energy work. Her intuitive and gentle counseling techniques coupled with a natural bent toward creative problem solving serve to accomplish her healing mission:

"To create a safe and sacred space for my patients to travel their healing journey."

After working in finance for 10 years, Dr. Carol graduated from the Swedish Institute in 1996 with a degree in massage therapy. Practicing massage is where Carol gained her appreciation for the complexities of the body and the connectedness of healing work. From this foundation she continued on to medical school and graduated with Honors from the National College of Natural Medicine in 2006.

Dr. Carol has advanced training in Ortho~Bionony® and Structural Integration, which she utilizes extensively to assist her patients in finding comfort and ease in their bodies, and in the world around them.

Structural Integration is a 10 session series focusing on the connective tissues surrounding the muscles versus the muscles themselves—this is what differentiates it from massage. The greater goal of structural integration is to move the body into closer alignment with gravity and thus improve posture, increase ease and economy of movement, a support a greater sense of well-being. More information can be found at www.theiasi.org.

Ortho~Bionony® is often considered the homeopathy of bodywork. It is a very gentle approach that follows and exaggerates the body's tension patterns thereby allowing them to release. It is based in a non-judgmental philosophy that honors each individual’s journey and can address dis-ease at the mental and emotional planes as well as the physical. For more information visit their website at www.ortho-bionomy.org.

Dr. Carol sees herself as being a catalyst and a guide for people who are on their healing journey. She provides advice, support and guidance but ultimately it is each individual who is their own healer.

Carol is an avid hiker and is rejuvenated by the natural beauty of Oregon's vast wilderness. She enjoys touring the wine country (and tasting the fine wines), good food, traveling and story telling. Her thirst for learning outpaces her enjoyment of fine food and enhances her store of varied information.
