IV Therapy

Intravenous (IV) Therapy

What is IV Therapy?
IV therapy is the administration of key vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and other health promoting nutrients directly into one’s blood stream. It is a particularly powerful and effective intervention for both acute and chronic illness as well as for those seeking health optimization and preventive care. IV therapy works by introducing nutrient-rich solutions directly into the blood, creating higher blood levels than is possible through supplemental oral intake. As a result, a significant concentration gradient is formed outside the cells, allowing for easier passage of nutrients through the membrane, intovthe cell, where the nutrients act to enhance cellular function. When the body is undervphysical (ie. chronic illness, metal toxicity) and/or emotional stress, requirements forvspecific nutrients increase as the cell’s ability to maintain adequate levels decrease. Thevsolutions used in IV therapy consist of the nutrients most utilized by the body and can be customized to meet each individuals needs.

Our most popular IV treatment is the “Myer’s cocktail,” as it is well tolerated by most patients and can be used to treat an array of conditions, including allergies, fatigue, and headaches. Follow the link to read about the many uses of the “Myer’s cocktail.”

What does an IV visit entail?
At Elixia Wellness Group, IV therapy is carefully administered by a physician, specifically trained in advanced IV therapy. The treatment is performed in our cozy IV suite, while relaxing comfortably in a reclining chair. The nutrients are delivered intravenously either through a “push” (small volume of solution) or “drip” (a larger “bag” of nutrients). The procedure is generally painless and relaxing. Treatment times range from 20 minutes for smaller pushes to 3 hours for larger drip solutions. Patients are welcome to read, listen to music, sleep, or play with their favorite personal electronic device during appointments to pass the time.
